My Goal

Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value.
-Albert Einstein

Today this quote struck a chord with me. If I could accomplish one thing in life, then being someone of value would be it.

I'm somewhat shy, and don't like a lot of attention. But when it comes to friends and family, I strive to be a person that is valued. I like to be trusted, the person who gets asked advice or just a confident. I secretly cherish it when my friends tell me things that they haven't told anyone else. I like it when my opinion is valued.

Does this make sense?

A lot of this comes around to the admiration that I have always had for my Grandfather. He was so valuable it was like having a treasure to always cheer you up or solve any problem. He was a pillar of strength and knowledge. I saw how much my parents, aunts and uncles, cousins...everyone...sought after his talents. The fact that I would love to be just like him proves that he was a man of value. I hope that someday I can have that impact on someone.

OSU football...does it get any better?

Living in Boston means that following Buckeye football is a choice. I seek out websites, news stories and hound family and friends back in Ohio to give me the lastest gossip on the team. Those in Columbus follow the team whether they want to or not...the town lives and breathes scarlet and grey and there's no getting away from it. Most of the games aren't even on tv out here, but that doesn't stop me. Brian came up with this really cool way to buy the broadcast over the internet, then pump the video feed from our laptop onto our tv. This way we get to see just about all the games.

This year is shaping up to be really exciting. After watching last week's game against Miami of Ohio, I was delighted to see the Buckeyes have a strong defense. I can't tell you the number of times over the years I have seen the defense win the game for us. Then there is the tride and true running game which got off to a good start. And the icing on the cake is having Teddy Ginn, Jr. as a receiver and punt returner. This kid is fast, talented and oh so fun to watch. It should be a thrilling season!

Diane has pointed out to me that having a #7 Buckeye jersery has really paid off. She bought it when Germaine was the proud owner. But then there was Gamble who graced us with incredible talent. And now Teddy is showing off his ability. The number must be lucky!

One last glance...

Can there be anything better than Ohio State beating Michigan? This scoreboard pic is the highlight from last year's season. I always say that OSU can't be great every year, and last year they lost a lot of good players so they had to rebuild the team. But any bad season can be turned around in the very last game against Michigan. A victory against them is like wiping the slate clean of all the past mistakes.

Am I my father's daughter, or what?
